  • Java - A multi-platform, object-oriented programming language from Sun Microsystems. The Java language syntax is somewhat similar to C. Java can be used to program applications and applets. Don't confuse Java with JavaScript. Read more about java technology.

  • Java Servlet - The Java Servlet API allows a software developer to add dynamic content to a web server using the Java platform. The generated content is commonly HTML, but may be other data such as XML. Servlet are the Java counterpart to dynamic web content technologies such as CGI or ASP. It has the ability to maintain state after many server transactions. This is done using HTTP Cookies, session variables or URL rewriting.

  • JavaScript - JavaScript is a mini version of Java. The advantages of JavaScript over Java are that JavaScript is simplified, it doesn't have to be compiled, and the source code resides within your HTML document.

  • JPEG - (Joint Photographic Experts Group) It is a standard image compression mechanism. JPEG compression is "Lossy," meaning that the compression scheme sacrifices some image quality in exchange for a reduction in the file's size.

  • JSP - (Java Server Pages) JSP or Java Server Pages, known to some as the Java Scripting Preprocessor, is a Java technology that allows developers to dynamically generate HTML, XML or some other type of web page.
